Happy 2012 to EVERYONE! I don't believe in any of the doom and gloom, end of the world events, so onward with Intentions for the New Year. A couple of years ago I read a great book explaining 2012 that I think is really logical:
Fractal Time - the Secrets of 2012 and the New World Age by Greg Braden .
Do your own calculations with his
Fractal Time Calculator [link] Even if you don't believe, it still gets you thinking about the possibilities! If this man is wrong, oh well, c'est la vie. We all have to die sometime. I'm not going to worry about it, RTTG2012, LOL. So, in that spirit, I'll be adding some new work shortly, I'm playing with some new combinations of mediums on Yupo paper. Stay tuned.
Got a cool email from the owner of Evaline Guitars, made my day today:
"Hello Cynthia. My name is Gary Kozlowski. I'm the owner/builder of the Evaline Guitar Company in Michigan. I made Jinxx's famous "Ouija" guitar. I just ran across the painting you did of him with that guitar. And I must say, I was both completely impressed and quite honored. Your work is beautiful. Thank you for painting that picture. I hope you do well with your gift" --Gary
There's 3 people who I think are just fantastic at what they do, are represented many times in my gallery art (in tribute) and they all share the same birthday: January 9. Tall, dark, intelligent and mysterious, those Capricorns. Each one of them has given me a gift of looking at my life differently.
Jimmy Page: Jimmy taught me to trust my own inner voice. That something of who you are is infused in everything you do or create. Not to be afraid to push the boundaries of your knowledge, be a seeker of the wisdom you wish to receive. "Don't be afraid to dance on the edge of the precipice." Take chances with your work. Listening to Pagey's music, many years ago, I created a painting that was instrumental in getting me into RISD (art school) . I was waitlisted until I showed the admissions director that painting!
Jinxx (Jeremy Ferguson, Black Veil Brides): Jinxx taught me that being a virtuoso in one medium does not mean you shouldn't strive to master others. And don't be afraid to express your deviant side!
Severus Snape (well, ok, Alan Rickman's birthday is in Feb, but Snape's b'day is 1/9 ): Snape taught me to embrace the dual aspects in our nature, both light and shadow. And most importantly, Do what you know is right, in your heart, even if the rest of the world misunderstands you. It's easy to do the right thing when popular opinion is on your side, hard when everyone throws hate in your direction. Be true to who you are.
