Description

"Manage me, I'm a mess
Turn a page, I'm a book
Half unread

I wanna be laughed at
Laughed with, just because

I wanna feel weightless
And that should be enough

Now I'm stuck in this fucking rut
Waiting on a second hand pick me up
And I'm over, getting older

If I could just find the time
Then I would never let another day go by
I'm over, getting old

Maybe it's not my weekend
But it's gonna be my year
And I'm so sick of watching while the minutes pass as I go nowhere
And this is my reaction
To everything I fear
Cause I've been going crazy I don't want to waste another minute here"

This one is really a no brainer. At first glace I'm greeted with penetrating eyes. After I get over the eyes, I look at the drawing as a whole. The hair is immaculately placed and the highlights and shadows in the face give it a soft and tranquil focus.

Vision:
This category doesn't really apply to your work; it's a portrait. This it does a fine job at.

Originality:
Portraits have been done before, and what I'm guessing is charcoal on a midtone paper isn't exactly a new technique... but this isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Technique:
This is the category in which your piece shines. Both the composition, pose, shading, and contrast are phenomenal. It looks like it could use a little more detail, but I believe it would lose some of its charm if it were.

Impact:
Like I said before, the eyes grab my attention instantly. The pose (while probably referenced from a publicity photo) looks as if someone had just tapped him on the shoulder. The soft focus from the smudging also adds to its memorability.

All in all. A great piece. Definitely something you should be proud of. <img src="e.deviantart.com/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt=":D" title=":D (Big Grin)" />
