Jack White iii In honor of the 15th anniversary of the formation of the White Stripes (On July 14, 1997 they performed 3 songs at an open mic night at The Gold Dollar in Detroit, and history was made.) this painting was inspired by an old photo I found of young Jack White, posing with his guitar.
of course I can never leave well enough alone...the blood comes from the scene in "It Might Get Loud" movie where he's playing and his fingers are bleeding, smearing over his guitar. The Medusa and snakes I had fun with, guess I wanted to give him a deadly woman who could wrap her arms around him.
tech details: the painting is done in traditional oils and acrylics on board, 20x25 6 of the green light trails are done in Photoshop using an excellent set of brushes by a fellow deviant (will post who, I must track down the creator)... I will re-create this effect using traditional acrylics or oils back on the original artwork in a few days, and re-upload the final, which will be all traditional medium. Final details like this I like to test drive in PS before I commit them to the canvas, because I don't want to ruin the painting at this point
awww...thanks! I know it comes from an older photo of him, but I wanted to do it for a long time...this was from the White Stripes days....next I will do one when I find a great shot with one of his hats...I have one I like, but it's wayyy too small.
your welcome I love all of his photos from the White Stripes days. Although he always looks so young in those photos at the time. I hope you find a photo where he is wearing his hat. He looks good wearing a hat I must say.
Thanks!!
I have another Jack to upload in a day or two
